09.30am Sight-seeing Hampton Court Palace and/or Windsor Castle. For almost 200 years, Hampton Court Palace was at the center of court life, politics and national history. Although often identified with Henry VIII, the first buildings at Hampton Court belonged to the Knight's Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem from 1236 who used the site as a center for their agricultural estates. Cardinal Wolsey transformed Hampton Court into a magnificent new residence, however, by 1528 the Cardinal had fallen from favor and was forced to relinquish his home to Henry VIII and at different times all his six wives came to Hampton Court. Situated on the banks of the River Thames the Palace still offers a wonderful experience for old and young who especially enjoy finding their way out of the famous Hampton Court Maze.
